What a beautiful rose!!

Roses are red, roses can be blue, roses can be yellow - but all the colors in one rose?
This rose was given to my friend Joan by one of her friends!
Have you ever seen such a beautiful rose? This picture actually doesn't do it justice. When I saw it - I thought is was artificial - but it isn't! It has the most vivid blue, yellow, and pink - each petal is a different shade - it even smells like a rose! What a rainbow of colors - our God is a great creator!

My friend Joan

My friend Joan had eye surgery last week. She is such a dear friend! I stopped by to visit her and we sat on her patio and enjoyed some Chilis ( chips and queso) and a beer. Joan drank hers from a cup that had a straw (you know what happens when you drink beer thru a straw -- you get giggily. Joan has to keep her head down for 2 WEEKS ~ she doesn't lift her head at all - not even when she is sleeping! All she could see of me when I visited her was my toes! I asked her if I could take a picture of her - she gladly agreed! We were laughing so hard because we both had to look down - and I am not a very good aim - so these are a couple of the best pictures! Please keep her in your prayers - that the surgery will be successful and she will be able to see clearly again out of her eye. You are an inspiration and I love you!
!
Get better soon!
I think you look great!!

Josue, Junior, and Melana

After I left Ruby Tuesdays, I stopped by my friend Adella's! Her kids are always glad to see me. Although, it looked like it was going to rain any second....we had a nice chat and time to take some great shots of her kids in the back of the pickup. I was driving Jack's pickup because my car was in the shop getting fixed. They loved being in the back of the truck! They love to have their pictures taken!Josue, Junior and Melana

Bible Study Meeting

This week I met with my Bible Study girls at Ruby Tuesdays for a summer get-to-gether. We are all anxious to start our Bible Study again. We haven't seen each other all summer. After we all had the salad bar, we discussed many ideas of what to study, such as The Beloved Disciple - a book about Jesus' brother, The Bait of Satan, or a book called Everything Must Change. If there is anyone out there with an another idea of something they have studied, please leave a comment. It was great catching up with everyone. Fran had a grandson get married, June had a new grandson and her daughter, Carlee is getting ready to go to Beijing for the Olympics. Dave and her are going too! What an adventure! Mar also had a new grandson, Julia also had a new grandson.....it seems boys are the name of the game.

Remembering my dad

August 3, 1976 - John Hannink (my dad) went to heaven to be with His Savior!
Posted by PicasaToday, August 3, I am remembering my dad, John Hannink. Here a picture of him just before he walked me down the aisle of my wedding day. Everyone who knew him - loved him. He delighted everyone with his walk with the Lord, his great sense of humor, and being a great dad! Dad died when he was only 50 years old....never got to know his grandkids, who would have been such great grandpa! His legacy does live on in his kids and grandkids, however, it would have been great if he could have enjoyed them longer.
My dad was one of 11 children - grew up on a farm in South Dakota, went to school through 6th grade, fought in the Korean War, was a very hard worker, moved our family to Michigan in 1964 because he wanted a better life for his family. He worked hard to send his kids to Christian schools and was an compassionate church leader at Ideal Park CRC.
~ Remembering many trips back to South Dakota to visit Grandma Hannink
~Remember his great handlebar mushtache - which he had at my wedding
~ Remembering how he hated camping - but listened to his kids - so he bought a tent
~ Remembering how we laughed in church about "hush puppies"
~ Remembering how Tim got $50 from him by guessing whose picture was on the $50
~ Remembering how he let me drive in SD, and I almost took the whole family out
~ Remembering the talk at the picnic table when I was being rebellious
~ Remembering when he found Virginia Slims - and called me Virginia for awhile
~Remembering how patient he was with me when he taught me how to drive a stick
~ Remembering watching "Edge of Night" with Pam and I when we got home from school
~ Remembering that he let us watch the Three Stooges when mom was working on Saturday
~Remembering how proud he was of his grandson, Nicholas John
Remembering so many other things!
Dad, I miss you! I know you are having the time of your life in heaven with mom...and someday we will be altogether again - seeing all of our loved ones in a perfect place. Thank you for being such a Christian role model for me - and hopefully I can pass that on to my kids, grandkids, and friends. I didn't say it enough, but I hope you know that I LOVE You!

A Day of Friendship in Holland!!

What a beautiful Saturday! Irene and I went to Art in the Park in Holland! There were many crafters....my Aunt Wilma was there selling her paintings. I got to see my cousin, Glenda also. So after walking around for an hour or two, of course we got hungry! And what do two good friends do when they get hungry....they go out for a light lunch. We went to the 8th Street Grill and shared a sandwich and some "Iced Tea"...

they were really refreshing......
the waitress took our picture......kinda blurry..... ...they went down so nice......
...everything seemed a little more blurry......
after lunch we were ready to do some more shopping in downtown Holland. I am very grateful for my friend, Irene. Please continue to pray for her.......life will never be the same for her after losing her son. She misses Joe so much but together we can be sad, we can cry together, we can sing together, we can laugh together, and though it all our friendship grows!!! I Love You RENE!!!

Pedicure and Mamma Mia

Emily and I spend an afternoon together while she was home. We went to get pedicures, and who was there........yea, Irene and her daughter, Rochelle. Yea, we had to wait an extra few minutes until they were done with their pedicures......
..but it was worth the wait. Emily decided to do a yellow pedicure, I think it was to match her top!! We followed up the pedicure with watching the movie.....
Mamma Mia! It was definitely a girl movie! Emily took us to see Mamma Mia when we visited her when she lived in New York on Broadway. It was nice to hear the ABBA music and spend some time together.

Happy hour with friends from Spectrum

Julie, Julie and Carole and I had dinner at Walker Roadhouse after work. You notice we still have our Spectrum badges on.....we just got new ones that day!!!
