It's not all "business" at Spectrum Health

Spectrum Health Healthier Communities had an "end of summer hot dog lunch" ! Kris brought her grill on the back of her truck....grilled hot dogs for all of us (yes, she is 7 months pregnant) It was a little chilly outside so we ate inside.......everyone brought a dish to pass and as always everyone had enough to eat and a great time!

That is beautiful St. Adelbert's Catholic Church in the background!
Erika is taking Julie's place while she is doing an internship at Greenville Spectrum Health....I can honestly say, I can remember being young and carefree - like Erika!
Jan looking for something under her desk.........she is not going to like this picture..............or
this one either! We decided we needed a pizza day last week......it was a great lunch!!

Celebrating Irene's Birthday - New Orleans Style

Irene and I celebrated her birthday - New Orleans Style !! After being in New Orleans last summer visiting my brother, we celebrated at the Chez Bayou for a birthday dinner, which included dessert, and some shopping afterwords.

We had a great dinner and enjoyed going back "south for an evening"!

Hudson, the artist!

Nate and Brooke sent us some artwork that was produced by a 17 month old. I don't think I have ever seen such talent!! It is amazing the color scheme he uses and the lines.....I am speechless! I am sure this is the first of many that will decorate the fridge.......remember the name "Hudson Holtvluwer" and that you first saw this talent on my blog!!!

Day in the City - Shipsi!!

Beth was in charge of our day in the city this summer. We had a beautiful day and we headed to Shipsi! We started the day with breakfast at Beth's house and then headed to the flea market, we found many bargains. Then we had a great lunch at the Blue Gate and continued shopping around downtown Shipsi. We then headed to the DasEssenhouse and did some more shopping and bought some things at the bakery. On the way home we stopped and went motorhome shopping..........long story.............but fun!!

Beth checking out a bargain at the flea market........while
Jan was thinking that maybe we all could get matching bras.....too bad we are all different sizes.......I think that there were bras for sale at about 15 different booths!!
A posed picture at the Essenhaus.....
Jan was talking to her kids on the way home........while
Beth drove safely!!
What a great adventure as always.....I am in charge next year......I have been trying to come up with a creative jaunt!! You'll have to keep checking the blog to see where we will end up next year...great friends, great food, great times, oh yeah, what happens in Shipsi, stays in Shipsi!!!

Summer Happenings

Summer Days always include a "beach day" with Bethany and Jenny. For the past 5 years we take a day and go to the beach together. We started the day (Saturday) by stopping in Muskegon and taking some family pictures of a friend. We then stopped in Whitehall and had lunch at Picadill's - we had great sandwiches and we also had great root beer floats. We then finished our day at beach by my sister's cottage. It was a nice day, but as it always seems the water is too cold to swim.....anyway, I always enjoy spending time with the Bonnema girls....hopefully we can continue this tradition for a few more years. Thanks for the great time!!
